Bob in front of his Kansas Trails Council "tool shed". When Bob is not bikin', he is buildin' those heavenly bike trails!
Hmmmmm......maybe we should have changed out the brake pads before we were mid-way thru the lap at the awesome Wilson RollerCoaster loop...????
I believe we all had a blast at our first "Hub Style" duathlon! Well, nobody said they wouldn't be back, anyway!
We had 8 particpants for our first event. And the miss Sandra was gracious enough to come out to be our bicycle "moderator" to make sure none of the bikes developed legs when someone wasn't there....
We did have 1 minute start intervals. And the starting numbers were quite different than the finishing numbers!
Here is the start sequence: TK 1; EB 2; RB 3; JH 4; SK 5; BS 6; BK; 7; GF (did the ride before we started as the group).
The only discrepency I see as timing ourselves happens to be my time....go figure... I started 1 minute before BS and I finished before BS, so....shouldn't my time be faster??? Oh boy oh boy Bob! You can make sure I'll go faster to beat you next time!!!! ;-)
Here are the final timed results:
BK 45:20
TK 52:17
BS 52:51
SK 52:57
RB 55:22
JH 57:35
GF 58.01
EB 59:00
Oh, and Ed, the other way for you to get faster......get more people to come!!! Oh, more people that are slower than you!! Or carry a stick........
Had a great time!
Thanks for coming to spin with me! Maybe we will get more to come next week, Wednesday, September 24th!!

Well, we had a split group for Sunday's adventures! There was a ride at Junction City that had mileage up to 100 miles.
Then there were those of us that didn't quite have enough time in the day to go to Junction, ride the century, then drive back......
We did a tailwind ride! MM, SK, SN, BN all headed South on 183 for a fast ride! What a blast we had! And it was definately a good training ride for me! I really pushed myself hard and felt good during and after the ride! That is good news for me with FC 508 so close!
Tailwinds!

On August 31st, These 4 ladies pedaled their way accross Kansas, South to North. After a full summer of training, they set the wheels rolling to make record time up Kansas!!
8 hours 42 minutes 50 seconds for 233 miles! Yee Haw! Once this record is certified by the Ultra Marathon Cycling Association, their crossing will the the 2nd fastest state crossing of all US states! And, they will be the youngest of any state crossing records!
And it was awesome to be the official for this event!! I got to view the event every pedal stroke of the way! Way to go girls!!

I've been wanting the group to have a duathlon for a while. I was going to wait until October to have one, but now I have decided not to! The first one will be September 17th!!
Bring your stopwatch, as you will be timing yourself! It will be an 'on your honor' system!
We will start at Frontier Park West, tentatively. 6:30 pm, 9-17-08
Since the large majority of us are cyclists, the duathlon will have two bike legs and one run leg. It will be a bike-run/jog/wog/walk/crawl/die-bike....er...okay, maybe I am the only one that will go thru the dying on the run process?!?! If you are not a runner, come and WALK the course!
The first bike leg will be about 6.5 miles. The run leg will be about a mile. The second bike leg will be about 5 miles. The bike portions will be on the road. The run portion will be on grass.
This will get us finished up before dark. And for any novice people that want to show up, it will not be so intimidating sounding!
So, if you have a bike in working order and you have working legs, show up! Just because you are not a racer, doesn't mean you can't show up, have fun, and hang out with cool people!
I had a great time on the ride and ended up just shy of 80 miles.....now I am hungry again.....ride, eat, repeat....

Ride to Paradise is scheduled for October 12th this year! Don't ask me a bunch of questions, just get on your bike, start riding some hills and send in your registration! It is a great ride and one not to be missed!!!
There is a 4o loop and a 60 mile loop. Read above...be ready for hills!! Sags will transport our lunches to Paradise, then, on the way back to the ranch, you can opt for the shorter or longer route.
Ride starts and ends at Saline River D Ranch, just north of Russell.
I will have a .pdf link soon!

Hey All!
Little by little I will learn how this computer stuff works! I miss having the communications we had with the good 'ol forum, and I will soon have one up and running again! In the mean time, I hope this new blog set up will help fill in the gap....even if it is a "one way street" with me feeding you as much info as I can!
